For businesses looking for a new way to accept payment, I suggest looking into the app Square if you haven’t already. Square is turning any iPad or iPhone into a mobile register by either using a stand, contactless and chip reader or a magstripe swiper. It’s free to start and it’s an organized way to help run your business in a safe and secure fashion. Bonus: When creating your Square profile, they’ll send you a magstripe swiper for free!
Next, Dropbox is an online, secure service that helps you store and share your files. If your company deals with a lot of different documents, this is a great way to have them all together in the same place. Dropbox is available on a desktop, mobile phone, or tablet so you can share or bring up a document at any time, wherever you’re at! Bonus: The free version gives you 2 gigs of space, and you can earn up to 16 gigs in a variety of ways!
MailChimp is, in my opinion, one of the best and easiest ways to send email blasts to your customers and clients. If your business is using MailChimp, have you tried their mobile apps yet? The two that I would recommend are MailChimp Mobile and MailChimp Editor. On Editor, you can actually design the campaign that you’re going to send out. With MailChimp Mobile, you can send the campaigns you designed in Editor and review your analytic reports right off of your handheld device!
Do you have a plethora of business cards you’ve collected from our many networking events and you don’t know how to organize all of them? I suggest downloading CamCard. On CamCard, you take pictures of the front and back of a business card and it loads all of the information from a contact into the app. If you wish to use all of your connections and, say, send out an e-blast, you can login to your account online and export your list of contacts into an Excel document. From there, upload the Excel document into MailChimp and it’ll take all of the emails to add to a list!
Isn’t life with technology so great? But wait, I’ve got one more trick up my sleeve! Splashtop Business is an app that allows you to access your work computer from your iPhone or iPad from anywhere as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection. This gives you a great excuse to take a field trip from your office and work in a coffee shop instead! Maybe the change of scenery will inspire you.
I hope these tips and tricks are helpful! Obviously I couldn’t write about them all… What are YOUR favorite apps for your business? Leave your comments below to help out other members!
